Mother’s Day is just around the corner, on Sunday May 11, so now is the perfect time to start planning something special.

Skip the flowers and chocolates this year, and treat your mum to an experience you can all enjoy together. Restaurants across Sydney will be serving special limited edition menus for the occasion, whatever your budget. Here are our picks for the best tables for a memorable Mother’s Day lunch in Sydney.

1. Chin Chin

Treat Mum to one of Surry Hills’ funkiest restaurants for a relaxed dining experience that pairs casual South Asian cuisine with contemporary art. Highlights on the menu include the prawn and ginger dumplings and the indulgent chocolate mousse served with raspberry and coconut for the final flourish. Mum will also be treated to a complimentary glass of Whispering Angel Rosรฉย on arrival.

What’s more, if you haven’t sorted your Mother’s Day gift, you can pre-purchase one of Chin Chin’s cookbooks and they’ll deliver it to your table, with a bow on topโ€”a lifesaver for forgetful children.

2. Promenade Bondi

Promenade boasts one of the best locations in Sydney, overlooking the golden sands of the city’s most famous beach. They are serving a special Mother’s Day breakfast and lunch set menu, best enjoyed with a view of the blue waters of Bondi. Treat your mum to a fancy brekkie, which includes A.P Bakery’s beloved foccacia with avocado, alongside green apple bircher, scones and even salted basque cheesecake.

The Mother’s Day feast will be served in the main dining room for one day only, with the breakfast set menu being presented inside from 7am. Later, lunchtime diners can book from midday to enjoy seafood, including scallop tartare, as well as wood-roasted wagyu. Both menus also have a kid’s menu for children under 12.

When: Sunday 11 May, 7am onwards for breakfast, 12pm onwards for lunch.

3. Yellow

This place prides itself for being one of Sydney’s leading fine dining vegan restaurantsโ€”actress Zendaya was even spotted here last year. Located in the stylish Potts Point, this Mother’s Day lunch is guaranteed to be tasty, thanks to Yellow’s use of super fresh produce.

Their Mother’s Day menu includes eight different dishes, including mushroom skewers served with crispy chilli, Jerusalem artichoke tart and a zesty lemon meringue pie to finish. Add optional a wine pairing (or a non-alcoholic pairing) for the perfect finishing touch.

4. The Collective

Celebrate at one of Sydneyโ€™s newest restaurants, tucked inside a beautifully restored 1880s sandstone building in The Rocks. The Dining Room pairs rich heritage with modern polish, offering lunch or dinner in a space that somehow feels both special and relaxed. Prefer to dine alfresco? Ask to sit in the gorgeous European courtyard of The Garden.

Opt for the shared menu ($130 per person) which has been crafted for indulgence. Start with Fougasse bread with salted cultured butter, a fresh selection of oysters, prawns, scallop, and tuna sashimi, and Coppertree beef tartare with blackened chilli, before moving on to the mains. Roasted market fish fillet with Pernod beurre blanc and caviar is served alongside grilled Angus sirloin with smoked tallow shoestring fries and salad. To finish, a selection of sweets and mini desserts to share.

Or go your own way as you explore the ร  la carte, where standout dishes include baby abalone schnitzel with native citrus mayo, baked short grain rice with harissa-spiked bone marrow, and a chocolate wattle-seed marquise. Good wine, great lighting and a kitchen that knows what itโ€™s doingโ€”sheโ€™ll be quietly impressed.

4. Watson’s Bay Hotel

Start the day with a coastal walk along the Hermitage Foreshore route, starting at Bay View Hill Road and winding around to Watson’s Bay. The reward will be worth the walk as Watson’s Bay Hotel are offering a $45 hot buffet breakfast from 8am on Mother’s Day. Eggs Florentine, corn fritters, chipolatas, hash browns and pancakes are all on the menu. If you prefer a lighter brekkie, a continental spread including fresh fruit and pastries will also be available.

If you don’t fancy breakfast, Watson’s Bay Hotel also does a Sunday Roast Special from 12pm. Enjoy a delicious meal paired with live music from their beach club.

5. Kingsleys Woolloomooloo

At $179 per person, Kingsleys is offering one of the more decadent Mother’s Day lunches. Mothers will be greeted with a glass of Moรซt & Chandon on arrival before enjoying a three-course sharing menu, featuring Sydney rock oysters, beef tenderloin and Mille Feuille.

Kingsleys will be offering this lunch on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 from 12:30pm.

6. Sinclair’s

Take in stunning views of Nepean River while savouring the set menu at Penrith’s only hatted restaurant. Sinclair’s is offering a glass of bubbles on arrival, and menu items including indulgent ironbark smoked arcadia chicken and creamy tiramisu. The menu was crafted by award-winning Head Chef Scott Mills, so it’s bound to be delicious.

Mum will be in no doubt about how much you care for her when she arrives at this chef-hatted restaurant, which has sweeping views of theย Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. So if you want to get into her good books with a memorable Mother’s Day, this is the place to book.

The four-course shared banquet meal includes tuna tataki, pink dragon dumplings, wagyu steak and more mouth-watering dishes. A glass of Minuty M Cotes de Provence Rosรฉ for each guestโ€”not just Mum!

No one is left out at Chiswick, where a four-course set menu is served alongside a children’s menu for smaller diners. The guest of honour will receive a glass of bubbles on arrival, to get your Mother’s Day lunch off to the perfect start. This beautiful Woollahra restaurant offers simple yet delicious dishes, including their crowd favourite slow-roasted lamb shoulder and in-season mussels.

9. Aria

Warning: this is the most expensive option on our list, so it might not be for all budgets (no judgments here!). Executive chef Tom Gorringe has curated a selection of dishes that includes quail, duck leg and wagyu, for the price of $275 per person. A much cheaper menu is also available for children 12 and under, at $65 per person. Watch the ferries pass in and out of the harbour as you dine at this exquisite waterfront venue.

10. Grana

Known for their fresh pasta and mouth-watering burrata, Grana is guaranteed to put a smile on your mum’s face. Circular Quay’s sleek Italian restaurant is offering a “long, generous lunch” this Mother’s Day for $139 per person.

The limited edition menu includes charred octopus, ricotta and porcini gnocchi, glazed lamb shoulder and more. There’s also the chance to add oysters for $6.80. Grana will also offer a children’s menu for $70 per person, which includes a Grana sundae, kids’ burrata and beef rigatoni.
