Four of Australia’s top chefs will curate special dinners at Sydney Opera House this month

Four of Australia’s top chefs have come together for Sydney Opera House’s winter dining series, ‘Chefs of the House.’

Taking place in the underused Yallamundi Rooms, which sit towards the back of the Sydney Opera House, the winter dining series is scheduled for Thursday and Friday nights throughout August, each edition bringing in a new big-name chef tasked with curating its own theme and muli-course menu.

The first two nights at Chefs of the House saw Yallamundi Rooms culinary director, Danielle Alvarez, curate a ‘Winter Harvest Symphony‘ with produce showcasing the top-tier of Australia’s winter growing season. For the next round, First Nations chef Mark Olive will throw a ‘Dreamtime‘ dinner to spotlight native ingredients paired with NSW wines. Peter Gilmore is up next with a special ‘The Icons of Bennelong‘ made up of dishes that have been featured over the last 50 years of his iconic restaurant, paired with premium Australian wines. Finally, we’ve got Matt Moran working with his favourite Australian sustainably caught seafood with ‘Oceans to Table‘.

The dinners aren’t cheap but given the calibre of culinary wizardry we’re looking at, having the set menus priced from $350 (inclusive of wine pairings) seems entirely reasonable.

Here’s a rundown of the Chefs of the House schedule for your convenience.

Danielle Alvarez ‘Winter Harvest Symphony‘ | Thursday, August 1 & Friday, August 2
Mark Olive ‘Dreamtime‘ | Thursday, August 8 & Friday, August 9
Peter Gilmore ‘The Icons of Bennelong‘ | Thursday, August 15 & Fridays, August 16
Matt Moran ‘Oceans to Table‘ | Thursday, August 22 & Friday, August 23
