Sydney Royal Easter Show 2025: Dates, Tickets & Highlights

Australia’s largest and most exciting annual ticketed event for families, the Sydney Royal Easter Show, returns to Sydney Showground from Friday, April 11 to Tuesday, April 22.

Since it first began in 1823, the Sydney Royal Easter Show has been used as a form of edutainment for people of all ages, finding purpose by highlighting the very best of NSW agriculture and primary industries. The show is typically fashioned as a celebration of modern Australian culture, informed by rural traditions and sustainable agriculture while also blending in elements of an amusement park and fair, blacksmithing shows, interactive animal shows, and showcases for award-winning local produce.

Since 1832 the Sydney Easter Show has enjoyed a close and supportive working relationship with the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, which funds a great deal of the event. Given it’s such a big money-making exercise for Sydney (the show typically generates more than $617 million towards the state’s economy each year), a great deal of effort is made to ensure it’s impressively up-to-date and consistently engaging for all types of people, from couples going to Easter show on a date to families loading up on showbags.

In 2023, the Sydney Easter Show achieved a gross value of production of $21.2 billion.

How to save money on the Sydney Easter Show

The Easter Show can be a costly day out. If you’ve got a family of four (2 adults, 2 children) heading along then you’re looking at $500-$600 for the entire day, including entry, rides, showbags and food. But there are a few things to be aware of it you want to shave that number down to a more reasonable figure.

First off, buy an early bird family ticket online. Don’t bother leaving access until you get to the gate, lock the price in before Thursday, April 10 because after that date you’ll need to pay general admission prices. That’s $118 versus $178 for a family pass.

Prices have made a jump from last year. In 2024, an early bird family ticket would be $110, so inflation has pushed entry up by $8. Not a huge increase by any means, but the difference between early bird and general is significant. Grab your early bird ticket online from the Easter Show website.

If you really want to lock in those savings, you can also buy an “after 4pm” ticket, although these are strictly limited and available only up until 11:59pm on April 10. The price is much more reasonable. Adult entry is $37 and its only $17 or a child ticket. Compare this to general prices where an individual adult ticket is $60 and a child ticket is $42.

Note that “after 4pm” tickets don’t come with reserved seating at the entertainment pavilions.

Make sure to select your day carefully when purchasing tickets as all entry is strictly non-transferable to other show days.

You’re also going to want to think about rides. They can add up, and it’s almost always the case that parents vastly underestimate how many times their kids want to ride the rollercoasters. We suggest grabbing the middle-option Fun Pass online which is priced at $68 for 60 credits. If you want 130 credits on your Fun Pass then you’re looking at $123, which saves you $30. Grab the latter if you think your kids will want to spend most of their time with the carnival rides, as topping up in real-time can be expensive.

When and where is the 2025 Sydney Easter Show?

The 2025 Sydney Royal Easter Show is always located at Sydney Showgrounds, which is a 5-10 minute walk from Olympic Park Station. As with all major events, attendees are encouraged to leave their cars at home and take public transport.

If you have a Sydney Easter Show ticket, then your travel is included in the price and there will be no additional fee if you want to catch the train to Olympic Park station.

The show officially starts on Friday, April 11 and runs up until Tuesday, April 22. Gates open at 8:30am each day and the show doesn’t close until 9pm.

As for what’s the best time to go to the Easter Show in Sydney? You’ll find that the Sydney Showgrounds start to get busiest in the mid-morning to early afternoon, so 11am to 2pm. If you can’t contend with the crowds, we recommend arriving later in the day after 5pm.

How do I get to the Sydney Easter Show?

Car parks at Sydney Olympic Park are in very high demand each day of the Sydney Royal Easter Show so if you do want to drive, then you’ll need to pre-book your parking. Pre-booked parking made directly with Sydney Olympic Park should set you back $35 for the whole day.

What are the best times to visit the Sydney Royal Easter Show?

The best time to visit the Sydney Royal Easter Show is generally after 5pm on any day, or any time on weekdays. The busiest times for the Sydney Easter Show have historically been between 11am and 2pm on a weekend. Unsurprisingly, the busiest time for the Easter show is on any day over the Easter long weekend (Good Friday to Easter Monday) so avoid those days if you want to explore without the stress.

Arriving after 5pm can help you avoid peak crowds, especially if its on a weekday as they are much less crowded than Saturday and Sunday.

What happens at the Sydney Royal Easter Show?

The Sydney Easter Show is about much more than easter eggs, showbags and amusement rides. There are a number of show-standards that are unique to this epic Sydney event, including (but not limited to):

The Woolworths Fresh Food Dome

Australia’s best producers pack into the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome each year to make for one of the city’s busiest and most diverse food markets. You’ll typically find sustainable food art helping bring the massive space to life as attendees shop and sample from the country’s finest.

Cutting-edge technology is used to offer kids immersive, interactive experiences so that they can learn more about the country’s essential agricultural products and there’s a continuous Aussie BBQ manned by a different brand each day.

The Woolworths Fresh Food Dome is open each day of the Sydney Easter Show from 9am to 7:30pm.

Advance Dog Pavilion

One of the most popular features of the Sydney Easter show each year is the ADVANCE Dog Pavilion, where highly skilled dogs participate in challenges that showcase their skills and breed characteristics. There’s nothing more adorable than watching a dog with a purpose, and this is always a unique way for these proficient pups to hog all the attention.

The pavilion is generally buzzing from 9am to 5pm each day of the show so you always have that to escape to when the rest of the show gets a bit too loud.

Davidson Plaza

Davidson Plaza is a mixed bag of daily entertainment throughout the show, offering everything from traditional timber sports and stockman skills to high-flying feats and yard dog demonstrations. You’ll be able to find a dynamic schedule of events on any given day so make sure you give this one some attention for when petting alpacas gets too much.

Fever Pavilion

Special events company Fever has had its own pavilion at the Sydney Easter Show for the past few years. It’s added a great sense of dynamism to the whole event, with immersive art installations and interactive experiences that are reduced versions of Fever’s many different activations around Sydney.

For 2025, the Fever Pavilion will feature a limited version of its popular Dinos Alive display, as well as the Horizon of Khufu VR and Life Chronicles VR exhibitions.

Honky Tonk

This is always an underrated part of the Easter Show, but a necessary escape for parents being goaded about not winning an oversized stuffed bunny. A slice of Nashville struts its dancefloor-loving, neon-washed idea of fun straight up to Sydney Showgrounds with this beer-fuelled pop-up.

The western-themed bar flows with both US imports and Australian craft beers while good ol’ country music props up a high-energy scene teeming with line dancers.

Showbag Pavilion

The most famous part of the Sydney Easter Show is the Showbag Pavilion. Imagine hundreds upon hundreds of stalls selling branded showbags that are not only keepsakes, but pack in various goodies (both edible and otherwise) from iconic properties like Cadbury, Bluey and Darrell Lea.

Prices for these showbags range between around $5 (the Little Ripper showbag) to $40 (the Stitch Backpack bag), and there’s almost too many of these to count.

According to showbags.com.au, the most popular showbags at the Easter show are:

  • Cadbury Dairy Milk showbag
  • Zappo showbag
  • Furry Friends showbag
  • Hubba Bubba showbag
  • Freddo showbag
  • Zappomungous showbag
  • Turkish Delight showbag
  • Zombie chews showbag
  • Ninja showbag
  • Aftershocks showbag
  • Crunchie showbag
  • Trolli showbag

Other popular activations during the Sydney Easter Show include a pop-up restaurant from Angus steakhouse, the Arts & Crafts pavilion, a fabulous floral showcase, and the ENGIE Stadium with motocross shows, drone and laser shows, and nightly Easter Show fireworks from 8:35pm.

If you’re heading along to the easter show with your kids, expect to be pulled in all different directions as the event offers more than enough to fill an entire day. Think farmyard nurseries and petting zoos, the famous Grand Parade, live alpaca sheering and livestock judging, the Country Women’s Association tea and scones, countless stalls selling dagwood dogs, showbags and nightly fireworks.

How to navigate the Sydney Royal Easter show: 5 top tips

A day out at the Sydney Easter Show can be very expensive, especially for families. You’ll want to take note of some of the following cost-saving tips to make you’re not smothering your day with stress.

  • Purchase a Carnival Fun Pass, which essentially replaces paper tickets for all carnival rides and games. You can load credits onto the fun pass via the official Easter Show Fun Pass app that’s available for both Android and iOS. It works just like your Opal Card; simply tap and play all day. This also means you can control the amount of credits you load onto your card. You’re typically looking at $1.20 for a single credit and $123 or 130 tickets.
  • Download the MyShow app before you enter the Sydney Royal Easter Show. This app includes all essential information to help you plan your day at the Show and is intuitive with clearly marked options so you can explore all of the animals, pavilions, carnival rides, food options and showbags.
  • Encourage your kids to wear bright and distinctive colours or clothes that you easily recognise. The crowds can get very thick, and kids are… well, they’re kids. For younger kids with backpacks, we recommend using an Apple Airtag or at least writing your mobile number on their arm in permanent marker in case they get lost.
  • Pre-book your own all-day locker to store showbags throughout the day. The lockers can be booked online and range from $14 (for a 90L capacity locker) to $23 (for a 180L capacity locker).
  • Consider booking a hotel. While rates are unsurprisingly high for the Sydney Easter Show dates, this is a great way to break up the day so you don’t have to be locked into the easter show all day. There are three hotels at Sydney Olympic Park: Pullman Sydney Olympic Park, Novotel Sydney Olympic Park, and ibis Sydney Olympic Park.
