Jimeoin, Arj Barker to headline Sydney Comedy Festival’s 20th anniversary

The Sydney Comedy Festival has just announced the first details for its milestone 20th anniversary, celebrating the hugely successful laugh-a-thon with big-ticket international and local performers.

For two decades, Sydney Comedy Festival has brought some of the world’s most lauded comedians to our shores, showcased brilliant up-and-comers and celebrated the razor-sharp wit of local legends. Now it’s time to bring it all together, pulling in a stellar line-up planted across Sydney’s best theatres as well as a few new locations yet to be announced.

And in even more exciting news, the festival will host not one, not three, but four gala nights next year. The galas are traditionally the most popular nights for Sydney Comedy Festival as they pull in the biggest line-ups. This year, they’ll be highlighting venues in Chatswood, Enmore, Parramatta and Sutherland.

Who is playing the Sydney Comedy Festival in 2025?

While the line-up will be firmed up the closer we get to April 2025, Sydney Comedy Festival has already confirmed headline slots of Irish Australian legend Jimeoin, festival favourite Arj Barker, and New Zealand’s Guy Montomery.

All three will be bringing their latest shows to Sydney.

Jimeoin will perform his latest show, Pandemonium, two times on Saturday, May 10. First at Concourse Chatswood before making his way over to Enmore Theatre.

Arj Barker’s The Mind Field should be one of the festival’s hottest tickets with two nights so far planned for the Kiwi comedian—Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17.

Guy Montgomery’s I’ve Noticed So Many Things, It’d Be Unfair To Keep Them To Myself is scheduled across two nights as well, with performances at Enmore Theatre on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10.

“This is really a celebration of 20 years of the Sydney Comedy Festival. We are so excited for 2025, and we’ll be reaching new venues and new spaces to make for to bring [sic] the biggest and best festival Sydney’s ever seen,” remarked Sydney Comedy Festival Director Jorge Menidis.

The Galas should definitely help distinguish the festival’s milestone year, with the below dates and venues locked in.

  • April 22 – Concert Concert Hall, Chatswood
  • April 22 – Enmore Theatre, Enmore
  • Apirl 23 – Riverside Theatres, Parramatta
  • April 24 – The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre, Sutherland
