The 2025 Sydney Comedy Festival is shaping up for its most exciting outing to date with plenty of new creative twists to the traditional format. The latest, however, is the event’s most exciting yet.
Celebrating 20 years of hilarity in the Harbour City, the parade of big-name international and local comedians is clearly rethinking what it means to host such a swarm of funny people in town. Yes, they’ve got the big Gala Nights and theatre shows from names like Rhys Darby, Rhys Nicholson and Becky Lucas. That’ll be a riot.
But you also have the family-friendly (and free) Great Laugh in the Park in Tumbalong Park (April 26) and the exciting comedy crawl around the YCK precinct. Now we’ve got “climb with a comedian,” a collaboration between Comedy Festival and BridgeClimb that’ll offer guests the chance to scale the Sydney Harbour Bridge with some of the world’s funniest people.
No comedy festival in the world has attempted something this sky high, so tickets should be flying right off those steel beams as locals and visitors climb one of the most famous structures in the world for a dynamic comedy performance.
It’s all part of BridgeClimb’s “Climb With” series, where celebrity guests are welcomed to lead expeditions up to the peak of Sydney Harbour Bridge. This will just do happen alongside some of Australia and New Zealand’s funniest comedians, with 100% of all proceeds donated to ActionAid Australia.
Five comedian are taking part across dates in March, which each climb leaving at 9:10am and groups capped at 13 to keep things nice and intimate. The lineup is as follows:
- David Correos – Tuesday, May 6
- Marney McQueen (Celine from Titanique) – Thursday, May 8
- Bob Downe – Friday, May 9
- Elouise Eftos – Wednesday, May 14
- John Cruckshank – Thursday, May 15
The experience will set you back $349 per person but, in addition to the laughs, you’ll get a signed Summit photo, commemorative certificate and a BridgeClimb cap.
