Ever dined out solo? It may not seem like a radical concept for anyone who has spent time in cities like New York and Tokyo, but some people have a great aversion to dining in restaurants alone.

If you’re one of those, do you think a free three-course meal would tempt you to try solo dining?

Sexual wellness company Lovehoney is pitching exactly that as part of its latest promotion, taking over a restaurant space in Chippendale and turning it into OLOS (“solo” in reverse).

The first-of-its-kind dining concept only offers the option to book a table for one. Based of the company’s findings that 41% of Australians view dining out alone as “the ultimate act of self-empowerment.” Furthermore, a third of singles avoid Valentine’s Day because they feel awkward around couples.

Free is always a good incentive, so OLOS is designed to reverse the stigma associated with solo dining and champion self-love.

The restaurant is only popping up for one night only (Valentine’s Day – Friday, February 14) and each solo diner can expect a three-course dining experience paired with fine wines and cocktails. Given Lovehoney is a sexual wellness company, diners will also get to take home a free sex toy of their choice. That all should amount to around $250 per person.

“Valentine’s Day is about love in all its forms, and that includes self-love,” said Lovehoney sexologist Christine Rafe.

“Through OLOS, we’re celebrating the power of embracing yourself – whether it’s enjoying a solo dining experience or prioritising your pleasure at home.”
