  • La Liste has revealed its annual ranking, drawing on various data points to list the worldโ€™s best restaurants.
  • Data has been collected from media and online reviews to give a more accurate picture.
  • Saint Peter, Quay, Sixpenny and Oncore by Clare Smyth are the big winners of Sydneyโ€™s dining scene.

Paris-based restaurant ranking guide, La Liste, has revealed its top 50 restaurants in the world for 2025.

Unlike better recognised awards such as Worldโ€™s 50 Best, La Liste doesnโ€™t rely on a panel of expert judges, but instead bases rankings on aggregated data from thousands of publications, hundreds of guidebooks and millions of online reviews. In many ways, itโ€™s a more accurate approach and cuts out any human bias.

And so it holds more weight that an impressive 9 Sydney restaurants would make the cut for the 2025 list, nodding to our increasingly impressive hospitality scene.

The highest-rated Sydney restaurant on the list is Oncore by Clare Smyth. The Crown Sydney restaurant scores 97 per cent in the overall rankings, making it the best restaurant in Sydney based on data. Tracking further down the list is Quay (94.5), Bentley Restaurant & Bar (83.5), Bennelong (81.5), Saint Peter (81), Sixpenny (80), Ormeggio at the Spit (79), Rockpool Bar & Grill (77.5), LuMi Bar & Dinning (76.5).

Considered on their own, lists such as this one donโ€™t necessarily mean as much as they should. In order to get a more accurate reading on what restaurants in Sydney are superior to all others, you should be looking at multiple lists and cross-referencing results.

Youโ€™ve got the recent Good Food Guide Award results, where four Sydney restaurants scored three chef hats each. Thatโ€™s Oncore by Clare Smyth, Quay, Saint Peter and Sixpenny. And thereโ€™s no Sydney restaurant in the current Worldโ€™s 50 Best round-up, but you will spy Saint Peter at #98 in the 50-100 section.

With Paddingtonโ€™s Saint Peter being the only common denominator between three authoritative lists, the only logical conclusion is that Josh Nilandโ€™s imaginative ode to sustainable seafood had made Saint Peter the single best restaurant in Sydney right now.
