It’s no secret that family entertainment is changing dramatically as different technologies continue to take shape. VR experiences are much more than just cheap gimmicks these days, and we’ve seen leaps and bounds with live robotics and animatronics.

That’s something events company Fever has been pushing a lot in Sydney. For the past few months, the platform, best known for its candlelit concert series, has been marketing several unique exhibitions for locals and visitors this year at their customised Fever Pavilion in Sydney Showgrounds.

We’ve been loving the Dino’s Alive immersive experience with its Jurassic Park vibe, and it’s great to see the Horizon of Khufu VR exhibition continue to draw families out to Sydney Olympic Park.

Elsewhere, we’ve seen Luna Park thriving with its new immersive experiences including Lite-Brite: Worlds of Wonder and an in-real-life Squid Game experience. A new age of family entertainment is certainly giving visitors and locals more kid-friendly things to do in Sydney, especially during the School Holiday periods.

Fever Pavilion joins the Sydney Easter Show

The Sydney Royal Easter Show, which this year runs from Friday, April 11 to Tuesday, April 22, will be largely the same as it was in previous years. The pavilions that we all know and love are still going to be popping up around Sydney Showground with all sorts of entertainment, centered around its retro carnival aesthetic, lavish displays of top NSW produce, and of course hundreds of showbags.

But the one big difference this year will be the aforementioned Fever Pavilion, open exclusively for anyone holding a Sydney Royal Easter show ticket during those dates.

While typically the Fever Pavilion offers around five different types of experiences, the Easter Show period will be cut down to just three:

  • Dino Adventure: A bite-sized version of the full Dinos Alive experience will feature at the Fever Pavilion with a 10-15 minute show priced at $13 for all visitors over 4 years old.
  • Horizon of Khufu VR: The full VR experience will be available, immersing families in a cutting-edge exploration of the pyramids of Egypt. The program lasts for 43 minutes and is priced at $39 for adults.
  • Life Chronicles VR: The full VR experience that takes families through every major period in the evolution of the planet and life itself. The program lasts for 43 minutes and is priced at $39 for adults.

With the Sydney Easter Show welcoming in more modern technology, it looks like Australia’s most successful ticketed event is finally undergoing some significant change. What will the experience be like this year with the addition of the Fever Pavilion?

The alpacas might be starving for attention this year as kids switch over to immersive digital experiences.

Note that entry to all of these experiences will be available as an add-on to a standard Sydney Royal Easter Show ticket. Dino Adventures tickets are available from the official Sydney Easter Show website while the VR experiences will need to be purchased via the Fever app or website.
