Huge, free music festival on this weekend in the Inner West

Fest by Inner West will take over the iconic Enmore Road area this Sunday October 20, from 12pm-7pm. Running alongside the Inner West Jazz fest, and the precinct’s breweries all doing 2-for-1 beers, to form one huge SXSW party.

Sydney’s Inner West is about to throw down some serious Austin energy with “Fest By Inner West,” a massive live music takeover on Enmore Road, happening this Sunday, October 20, 12pm. The mini musical SXSW will be happening, with over 30 bands across six excellent venues, turning the strip into Sydney’s live music mecca.

The Inner West Council has partnered with SXSW Sydney and Century Venues to bring this thing to life. It’s their way of showing off what the area’s music scene is all about – local talent, some heavy-hitting international acts, and a vibe that’s got all the grit and excitement of an underground festival, but on a larger-than-life scale.

Enmore Road was the first in NSW to get a Special Entertainment Precinct status, making it the centre of the city’s music and arts world. Fest by Inner West comes just a few weeks after the PM’s launch of the Inner West Ale Trail, which currently has all breweries in the precinct doing 2-for-1 beer deals.

Expect free gigs at iconic venues like The Enmore Theatre, The Duke, Enmore Hotel, Vic on the Park, Trocadero Room, and The Factory Theatre. Half the lineup? Straight outta the Inner West. The other half? A mix of international and domestic artists brought in from the SXSW Sydney roster, making this festival the ultimate cross-cultural mashup.

To add to the music-spilling-out-of-every-doorway vibe of the original SXSW in Austin, both Saturday and Sunday will also have the precinct hosting the Inner West Jazz Fest. The ticketed event will be held across two spaces at 81 Johnston Street – the Chapel and the Dance Hall – and you’re allowed to BYO food and alcohol.

Councillor Chloe Smith said, “The Inner West is the undisputed capital of live music, culture, and arts in NSW, and now we’re showing the world what we have to offer,” she said.
