We’ve already hopped around to Easter and with the April school holidays also sliding into April, this month is going to be all about dialling in some family time with plenty of fun things to for kids during Easter.

We’re talking easter egg hunts (even the world’s most unique easter egg hunt) as well as countless shows that go beyond just the famous Sydney Royal Easter Show. Even if you aren’t too keen on spending a fortune at Sydney Showground, you’ve still got plenty of things happening around Sydney to keep people of all ages happy (even the teenagers!).

Sydney Travel Guide has done some digging around and presents a curated list of things to do with kids this Easter.

1. BridgeClimb Easter Egg Hunt

Mix a good ol’ fashion easter egg hunt with some of the world’s most extraordinary views as kids and their parents hop up the platforms of Sydney Harbour Bridge while counting treats along the way. BridgeClimb is one of the most popular things to do in Sydney at most times of the year, but things look much different for the institution when the Easter long weekend hits.

Darrell Lea will be hiding easter eggs all over the Sydney Harbour Bridge from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21 for kids aged 8-15 to take part in the hunt. They’ll simply need to spot and count the hidden Easter eggs during a Summit Day or Summit Twilight Climb for their chance to win a special Easter treat once they touch down at Base.

The cost is included in a Summit Day or Summit Twilight Climb is it won’t cost any extra.

2. Sydney Family Show

The annual Holiday Parks Sydney Family Show is once again taking over the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park for a huge festival that runs from Saturday, April 12 to Sunday, April 27. There will be several different zones taking care of all types of entertainment and kid-friendly activities, from a petting zoo to a games area.

If you want to hop on the Easter spirit, making sure you slide on over to the Easter Basket Zone. It’s an extra $15 entry but you’ll get all types of fun. Kids can take part in a special Easter egg hunt while there’s also a nursery with real-life bunnies to pet and care for.

3. Sydney Easter Show

Itโ€™s the big, obvious Easter activity thatโ€™s going to get the kids really excited. The Sydney Royal Easter Show is back for another year, bringing all types of fun and activities to the Sydney Showground for one epic day out with the family. It can be a costly day, but such an event only rolls around once a year with numerous pavilions showcasing everything from top NSW produce and hundreds of showbags from iconic brands, to interactive animal experiences, shows, fireworks and more. Donโ€™t forget the broad strip of carnival games and rides as well as, for the first time, interactive VR and animatronic experiences at the Fever Pavilion.

4. Easter Egg Hunt at Golden Ridge Animal Farm

The Easter Egg Hunt at Dural’s Golden Ridge Animal Farm is an institution for families, and it’s always fine taking to drive out to this picturesque patch to milk cows, cuddle chicks and decorate Easter marks. It’s back from April 12 to 20, turning the massive farm into a bit of an Easter festival with a petting zoo and other interactive farm experiences, in addition to an indoor Easter egg hunt where plastic Easter eggs are hidden all over the shop.

5. The Hills Easter Show

Easter in Sydney takes over the Hills District Aussie NightMarkets transforms Castle Hill Showgrounds into a hub of holiday festivities. Running throughout the Easter long weekend, the Hills Easter Show is a nice alternative to traditional celebrations like the Sydney Royal Easter Show and Family Show, filling the space with local market stalls, carnival attractions, and even its own showbag pavilion.

A daily fireworks show caps it all of, fashioning the Hills Easter Show a bit like a small, more manageable version of the chaos that spills out of Sydney Olympic Park this time each year. Visitors can also get up close with furry critters at the Animal Nursery, learn about different species at the Reptile Show and even hop on some fantastical horse and carriage rides.

6. Hoppy Little Chef Workshop

This isn’t exactly the type of family-friendly Easter event in Sydney that you’d stumble upon. Head on over to Marrickville Metro’s Hoppy Little Chef if your little ones want to learn how to make Hot Cross Buns as well as cookies, fairy bread (yes, it’s hard to get right), and other egg-citing culinary creations to create at army of Easter bunnies. Bookings are essential.

7. Fairfield Easter Show

Not even many Sydneysiders realise that there’s plenty of alternatives around town for anyone who doesn’t want to deal with the Sydney Easter Show. The Farfield Easter Show is a shining example, taking over the massive Farfield Showground with a small version of what you’d get over at the Sydney Showgrounds.

This has all your exciting fair-standards so the kids will love spread out over the showground with a full program of thrilling rides, live performances and a massive range of food options from some of Western Sydney’s best operators. Plus, there’s also an epic easter egg hunt with entry at an additional cost (entry to the festival is free).

8. Easter Bunny Express

Hop onboard the Easter Bunny Express over at Clarence, which is a town just outside of Lithgow. Not only do you get a nice, short and manageable road-trip in for the Easter Long Weekend but you’ll also climb onboard an historic railway that springs to life each year, redressed with an Easter theme with fun activities for the whole family.

There will be three train journeys across the weekend, departing at either 10:30am, 12:30pm or 2:30pm. While onboard, kids can join in on an Easter Egg Hunt, get up close and personal with animals at Kenzell Farm and even meeting the Easter Bunny himself.

9. Easter Sunday at Jamberoo Action Park

Pair some Easter Long Weekend fun up with some water activities at Jamberoo Action Park. The legendary NSW theme park will be shaping up to an Easter theme for one day only with free chocolate eggs, character meet-and-greets, kid-friendly entertainment and competitions all Sunday long. This is in addition to an Easter hamper guessing competition and a few other treats for the kids as they spend the full day at one of Australia’s most beloved water parks.

11. St Ives Easter Carnival

You can always count on leafy St Ives for that festive spirit each and every time Easter hops around. The St Ives Easter Carnival is a long-running institution for our friends up north, featuring all types of Easter fun from amusement rides and jumping castles to pony rides, circus shows, face painting, Easter egg hunts and petting zoos.

This is another one of those prime alternatives to the Sydney Royal Easter Show, contained with just one day that ends with a bang as Easter fireworks are displayed across the night sky.

12. Alice in Easterland

Tired of all those Easter egg hunts and petting zoos? Take the kids over the Centennial Parklands on Saturday, April 19 where a bunch of creative souls will be jousting with the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland as they dress up and embark on a quest to find the Mad Hatter. With audience participation of course.

Bring your Easter bonnets along and make a day of it. Dress up is encouraged to get everyone in the spirit as this interactive performance takes place in the leafy parklands thanks to the Eaton Gorge Theatre Company.

Over 50 market stalls will be packed into the Entertainment Quarter as the Ultimate Easter Market hops back to life this year, bigger and better than ever. 14. Cronulla Easter Market

The Sydney Royal Easter Show may steal all the shine when April hits the Harbour City, but there are numerous other Easter happenings across town that are just as beloved. A great example the annual two-day Cronulla Easter Market, supersized this year with 150 vendors packed by the beach for the ultimate family day out.

Sydneyโ€™s best small businesses, artisans and food vendors have all come onboard for the Cronulla Easter Market, which this year is being held across Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30 at Don Lucas Reserve.

The beachside market is just steps from the sand so most locals and visitors pair this up with a swim in one of Sydneyโ€™s best beaches. When it comes time to shop, you can fill your tote bag with all types of homewares, handmade crafts, local art, fashion, fresh produce, beauty and independent fashion as this mega market steadily shows of its growth each year.
