The USA’s legendary Buffalo Trace is hosting Australia’s largest whiskey tasting in August

The world’s most awarded distillery, Buffalo Trace, is coming to Sydney to host “Australia’s biggest whiskey tasting” on a football field at the end of this month.

A 100-metre table has been set up at Henson Park in Marrickville for the large-scale tasting, which takes place just days before Father’s Day and follows the Newtown Jets vs. Warriors game to mark the end of the KnockOn Effect NSW Cup.

A group of locals have come on board to turn this tasting into quite the party, transforming the park into a whiskey lovers paradise with a rotating pork spit from locals Black Bear BBQ. Local favourites Philter Brewing will also set up a stall, just in case anyone wants to switch bourbon for brews on the night.

A tasting of this scale has never been attempted in Sydney before, so the ambience alone should be worth the $35 entry fee. The event will be capped at 250 attendees so while it mightn’t be the most intimate of tasting, it’s shaping up to be the most fun.

Comedian Andrew Barnett will lead the evening, which will also be attended by both teams and Buffalo Trace Distillery’s whiskey expert, Gee David as guests taste four signature Buffalo Trace whiskies (which I’ve listed below).

  • Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon
  • Sazarac Straight Rye
  • Weller Special Reserve Wheated Bourbon
  • Buffalo Trace Distillery Bourbon Cream

Buffalo Trace’s Whiskey Tasting

Where: Henson Park; 32 Centennial St, Marrickville NSW 2204
