Overnight, the esteemed experts of The World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants announced some of the rankings for this year’s list. And two Sydney favourites made the cut. The team of steak connoisseurs visits the globe’s finest steak restaurants throughout the year, judging the meat quality (looking out for marbling, cut, preparation and taste) and the range of cuts and origins, as well as overall service, wine list and atmosphere.
They’ve only announced rankings 70-101 so far. If you simply can’t wait for the full listโarriving on May 1โpay a visit to two of the best steak restaurants in Sydney for an iron boost.
Which are the best steak restaurants in Sydney?
First up, Liquid and Larder’s Bistecca comes in at 99th on the list. From the team behind The Gidley and brand-new spots Lottie and Bar Julius at The EVE Hotel, this candle-lit spot is renowned for serving a classic Italian cut. Bistecca alla Fiorentina is one of the most famous Tuscan cuisines, originating in Florence. The subterranean has actually dropped this year, after ranking at 45th last year, but the medium-rare cooking over ironbark and charcoal, and the award-winning list of Italian and Australian wines earns a very respectable title as one of the world’s best. Again.
Oh, be warned: staff take your phone away while you dine, so you can enjoy some time off the ‘gram while savouring your steaks.

Higher up the list is a newcomer: Marrickville’s 20 Chapel. The sleek neighbourhood bistro is co-owned and headed up by former Rockpool chef Corey Costelloe, who has allegedly cooked more than 900,000 steaks in his career. He knows what he’s doing. The restaurant only opened in June 2024โwhat an achievement to make the list in its first year! The team focuses on the art of simple cooking over fire, using the finest produce sourced daily from the Hawkesbury River.
Steakโfrom the Blackmore wagyu brisket or beef and tomato pie to the beef fillet with shimeij mushroomsโis of course the star of the show, but don’t miss the potato wedges. Cooked in beef fat and served with crรจme fraรฎche and chilli jam, these golden, crunchy wedges of goodness make the best entree or side.
Much more to come
