5 demure day spas to live your best mindful life in Sydney

We’ve all been very demure, very mindful since TikTok star Jools Lebron went viral.

What started as a cutesy sarcasm-coded video series has swept the digital world into a frenzy (a very calm, low-key frenzy). Now we’re all thinking of how we can be very demure, very mindful in our day-to-day.

The best way to do that? A day spa.

We aren’t talking about any regular day spa either. You want something that offers the whole shebang, giving you plenty of ways to mix and match your wellness journey (like a mindful pick ‘n’ mix, without the sugar overload).

Luckily, Sydney has plenty of stylish day spas for you and your friends to soak your stresses away. To help, we’ve rounded up six of our favourites so you know exactly where to go next time you need a pick-me-up. Or just an escape from your 365-party-girl life.

1. SpaQ

Okay QTies, you know that QT Sydney still has one of the best spas in Australia, right? It’s just the right size, has the right amount of treatments, and uses excellent products.

Plus, it’s in the same building as the excellent Gowings Bar & Grill and the equally satisfying Parlour. So you can fit in a feast before or after your treatment.

Walk your demure self right on up to the reception and browse the treatment menu.

A highlight is ‘Decadence’ ($295), which is a 90-minute one-on-one treatment with a tension target massage, essential focus facial, and Wild Thyme foot therapy plus plenty of time to socialise in the stunning lounge area. You’ve also got couples treatments, a variety of facials, a body peel or body polish, and more.

3. Slow House: The Bathhouse

A slice of Scandinavian simplicity came to Bondi Beach when Slow House opened in 2021. It’s been one of the most popular wellness spots in Sydney since, but the original location was sadly knocked down. Now, Slow House 2.0 has popped up with a bigger, better and more comprehensive sauna experience in-line with modern wellness trends.

The sauna complex straddles Japanese and Finnish cultures, offering everything from a traditional Finnish sauna and steam room, to a 5°C ice bath.

Health and wellness go hand-in-hand with sauna culture so this is a great way to blend a day on Bondi Beach with a late-afternoon dip cycling through the many temperatures on offer. The benefits? Detoxification, muscular pain relief, and a great big boost the metabolism and immune system. You’ll feel like you’re floating on a cloud once done.

4. Gillian Adams Salon and Spa

You’ll have to fan out to Turramurra for this one, but the trek to the Upper North Shore will be worth it.

The unique Gillian Adams has been standing in the leafy suburb for more than 30 years, yet it’s still a hidden gem that a lot of Sydney locals don’t know about.

Shower rituals, deep tissue massages, pregnancy massages and aromatherapy salt glows are the most popular treatments here. But a lot of locals would go just for a dip in the beautiful, European-inspired spa and then follow that with a lovely high tea in the garden.

If you’ve dedicated a full-day, look into the 4-hour Le Royale treatment ($485) which starts with an Aquamedic pool and steam complemented by a lime and ginger salt glow. Afterwards, you’ll get the spa’s signature facial and a gourmet lunch to wrap it all up.

Address: 1356 Pacific Hwy, Turramurra NSW 2074
Contact: (02) 9488 9944
Opening Hours: Tuesday – Wednesday & Friday (9 am – 5:30 pm); Thursday (9 am – 7 pm); Saturday (8:30 am – 5 pm)
