Sydney will be a shopping mecca this August, not just because some of the city’s best shops are gearing up for Afterpay Day (August 15—18), but several big sales events are happening around town that you should be aware of. Whether you want to save on fashion, score a free Dyson Airwrap, or sample a brand-new unisex perfume, August offers plenty of cost-of-living hacks to Sydney locals and visitors over the next few weeks.
Vintage Kilo Warehouse Sale
The Vintage Kilo Warehouse Sale returns to Sydney, offering a massive selection of second-hand clothing, unique vintage pieces, and well-known brands. With over 9,000 kilos of clothing available, you can buy as much as you want for just $50 per kilo. The event features two sessions: a VIP drop for early access and a larger normal drop.
Speaking personally, I’ve scored some incredible finds at the Vintage Kilo Warehouse Sale over the past few years. It may be more heft than Haute, but buying bags of clothing is fun, and you never really know what hidden treasures you may find. I discovered an Adidas vintage racer jacket that became my winter staple piece and heaps of stunning knits and scarves. I’ve been asked many times how I always find such interesting, affordable pieces; this is how.
If you like your fashion fast, furious—and affordable—how about buying it by the kilo? The early-access VIP drop is ticketed and will take place on Friday, August 16 from 5pm. The “normal drop” is on the following day: Saturday, August 17 from 8am to 4:30pm.
Where: 29 Smith St, Marrickville NSW 2204
When: Friday, August 16—Saturday, August 17

For 2024, Afterpay will also host a Mystery Market at Pitt Street Mall, with scope to give away over 1,000 high-value products for the nice clean sum of $0. From 9:30am on August 15, shoppers can head on down to browse 1,000 identical Bondi-Mint coloured boxes, some of which hide up to $1,000 worth of vouchers from brands like Dyson, JB Hi-Fi, eBay, Sephora, Webjet, Koala, and Doordash. You’ll just have to make sure you’ve got the Afterpay app downloaded, and be one of the first 1,000 people in the queue when the Mystery Market opens at 9:30am on the Thursday.
