3D cocktails are a thing and you can find them at this Sydney bar

  • Dean & Nancy have introduced a new conceptual drinks menu with 14 cocktails.
  • This includes a Martini-style creation elevated by the use of 3D glasses.
  • A by Adina is celebrating by offering all overnight hotel guests $100 credit at the bar.

Remember vaporised cocktails and edibles spheres of gin-flavoured jelly? Neither do we.

Trends in the cocktail world rarely spread like wildfire, but there are a few that have led the industry over recent years. A hyperlocal focus on ingredients, spirit infusions, bottled concoctions and the low-to-no alcohol movement are here to stay. And while we’re not quite sure the latest twist will catch on, it is at least an admirable attempt to add excitement to Sydney’s cocktail scene.

For their new cocktail menu, the team at Dean & Nancy’s has created their very first interactive cocktail. That is, the Ayahuasca Daisy ($28) with tequila, honeydew and apricot tea, berries and Montenegro Amaro. The left-field Margarita sounds delicious enough as it is, but the team have found a way to turn it into a dream-like experience where guests wear a pair of 3D glasses to add to the sensory experience.

The Venom Milk Punch is served in a vessel resembling a sea urchin (photo supplied).

Restaurant and bar manager, Stefano Filadri, hasn’t given too much away about the brand new creation just yet, pointing towards a 3D experience that’s connected to an illustration on the menu, designed to complement the drink. Given the drink is named after one of the most famously psychedelic beverages in the world, we’re expecting something otherworldly.

The aptly named ‘World of Dreams’ menu features 14 new cocktails driven by The Maybe Group’s penchant for innovation. It’d sound overly gimmicky in lesser hands, but considering the team are behind world-renowned bars like Maybe Sammy and El Primo Sanchez, we’re paying close attention to the menu refresh.

“The World of Dreams cocktail experience awakens the dreamer with every sip,” said Stefano.

“Each cocktail is crafted to evoke wonder, mystery, and the desire to explore and enjoy the uncharted territories of imagination.”

Other creations include:

  • Venom Milk Punch ($29) served in a glass shaped like a sea urchin. It’s a milk punch with matcha-infused Flor de Caña 12yo Rum, toasted rice, coconut, almond and vanilla.
  • The Hanami Bellini ($28) inspired by cherry blossoms with a light body of Roku Gin layered by Amaretto Disaronno, peach, Sakura Vermouth, orange and sparkling wine.
  • The Bubble Dream Spritz ($27) with Atlamura Vodka and Aperol, complemented by Rooibos tea, passionfruit and vanilla.
  • The Lotus Old Fashioned ($35) based on Dalmore 12yo Scotch with cashew, muscovado sugar and pepper berry.

The whimsical cocktail menu can be found on the 22nd floor of A by Adina, just a short walk from Wynyard Station. To celebrate, the hotel has put together a cocktail lovers package where each overnight booking receives $100 credit at the bar with a guaranteed reservation, plus a 1pm check-out and a box of take-home cocktails.
